AHHH! There is a cafe in brooklyn that serves Stumptown! Ahhh!! get me to thy shop!
I can't wait! I can has beanz plz?
I woke up around 10am this morning but decided I wanted to go sleep some more and then I didn't wake up again til almost 3. whoops. i think my body still wants to sleep late although I worked all week. I had a lot of evening plans this past week as well which were really nice. One of my new years resolutions is to be better at challenging myself to be more social. All of my life I have been okay being by myself but then sometimes i think that leads to low-level depression and not treating my friends as well as I'd like to. I had weird dreams last night about looking at a study abroad program for school but then I had braces and they were falling apart. Not my traditional teeth falling out dreams but somewhat similar.
Whoa, bells are ringing at the church across the street and they are a little creepy sounding. Like, not traditional joyous church bells. hm.
Marc and I just finished up Season 1 of Friday Night Lights which is a tv drama about texas football but actually way more than that and very entertaining. it's very well written/acted and has a lot of heart.
I have begun reading Flylady again and its inspiring me to complete little bits of housework here and there. i just wish i could be good about cleaning as i go, and not waiting til every surface is a mess and it mostly my mess and not marc's and feeling like i'll never be able to get our apartment looking company-ready on a regular basis.
School starts up again and I have books to buy :( I got one of them last semester but now they want the next edition. oh well. maybe it won't even matter.
For LJ archiving info, check out banshee entry and comments. LJ has its own export system but there are other open source programs as well.
Holy snowfall batman! we missed that for sure!
I feel so fortunate as the new year begins. I have great friends who are so fun and caring and thoughtful. Tonight we went out to dinner to celebrate the birthday and bon voyage of two students who are going abroad next week. After dinner Lauren and I tried to go geocaching but we could not locate the item. We then went and played a rousing game of taboo which was probably the most hysterical version I have played yet. Now I'm on the train and a snow storm is on the way. I can't wait to see and cuddle with Marc and the kittens. Eee! I thought Taylor's birthday extravaganza was tonight but its not til February! I hope to sleep in tomorrow morning and have a lazy weekend.

Marc and I have made a successful trek to Atlantic/Pacific after dinner at Erica and Cat's. I had a great time, though I hope we didn't overstay our welcome. They are so sweet and warn folks and I hope they have baby making luck when the time is right.
After work Jamie and I watched The Reader which was a heartbreaker of a film of there ever was one. My heavens!
I think I may have had a sip of wine too much, as I'm feeling a little loopy and my teeth hurt, though it could just be the homemade apple pie they baked. Oh how I love the prospect of new friends.
Oh hi I need a new haircut! As evidenced most strongly by the photos of me and Sarah on facebook. Almost home now! Good night!!!!

It's later than I thought it was, but I made an slightly impulsive decision to head to Alena's this evening after my movie plans were cancelled. Her leg is broken and she's due to birth Ark soon and she's dealing with a lot more right now so I hope to be as supportive and present as I can possibly be at this moment.
I am quite hungry right now - I feel like I have eaten a lot today...steel cut oats for breakfast, a sandwich, carrots, hummus, figs, and grapes for lunch. I'll have to find something near her home. Hopefully something with a lot of veggies!!
In other baby news, marc and I are going over to a new friend's apt tomorrow night. She was in my repro health class, and emailed me recently to see if I'd send her my final paper on lesbian insemination as she and her partner are exploring baby making options! Eee! I'm always excited to widen my queer circle of friends...particularly those not associated with the lgbt office in some capacity as I value depth and breadth of experience, though of course I love my nyu queers to the moon and stars and back.
On the train again, by the way. I took the D to the N which I think ends up faster than taking the R to the N at canal. I really love writing in this on the train, as I often feel my commute is such a waste of time and it's too challenging to write with pen and paper.
Hey Taylor! I like that I am not the only one using this app currently! I will see you on Friday my love!
5 more stops! A lives thisclose to coney island! I want to check out the new roller skating rink there.
Today I visited marc at work to get a DVD and bring him coffee. Before I got back on the train I visited the Jo Malone store in the flat iron building. My aunt works for the company in some capacity and gives me free goodies some times. It is quite the high end fragrance and I felt sort of uncomfy but when the sales lady began showing me the fragrances I mentioned her name and she totally knew her! Everyone in the store did so I imagine my aunt is someone important in the business. She gave me free samples!

I am wondering about my time management skills and how this may help or hinder my ability to stay on task. Yesterday when I got home from work I drank a glass of wine and read and then washed all of my laundry which is a task I don't particularly love. I made a to so list in notes but there may be a good task app out there.
Apparently livejournal may cease to exist shortly. When I first started writing years ago I would copy+paste into word to archive each month but I got lazy and stopped caring about preservation. I've been on lj for at least 10 years which is incredible and maybe it would be nice to have everything in one place if lj goes under. There are some programs that archive for you now that I am going to look into.
Hey Brass Folks! Does anyone have Arban's for trumpet they don't want any longer? My steel pan instructor recommended it for it's exercises that can translate nicely to steel pan. I don't want to shell out $30 if someone has it lying around. Thanks!
Tonight's goals include cleaning off the tops of our dressers, unpacking from the holiday, practicing, reading, and maybe some letter writing to friends scattered across the globe. Want a letter? Email me!

It is a new year. A fresh slate. I am pondering resolutions and other assorted affirmations for the coming year. I feel so blessed to have the friends and family that I do. More to come in the following days. Much love to you and yours.

I love it on the day that I decide to write on livejournal, nobody else really does. I guess everyone is being more productive than I am today. I got up late after having some nasty nightmares. i have anxiety dreams a lot, and last night was filled with them...i am often anxious during the day as well and stress out constantly inside - i think many people think I am a very laid back, easy going person who is down to earth, but often my insides are going pretty crazy. from am to pm i have this disastrous inner monologue/day dream about bad things that could happen. even in the shower. especially in the shower. i get very worked up. this affects my personal life and my job, and it is something that I want to work on in the new year.
another thing I want to work on is writing letters. i love sending and receiving mail! when marc and i came home from his family's yesterday, every piece of mail was for me, and 3 things were actual fun mail! i got a wedding invite to my cousin carrie's wedding in February, a letter from Bella from Chicago, and a long lost letter from Sarah who is in Kyrgyzstan. It was sent on October 20th! Before she left for Peace Corps, one little gift that I got her was this mini washboard from Muji. I had one that I use to scrub my undies, and I thought it would be good for her to have as well and apparently she uses it every time she does her wash! score! she also wears a sweater of mine that didn't fit me anymore to school nearly every day. her letters are so sweet and thoughtful. she writes about her experiences really well. if you are interested, check it out: http://sarahthorny.blogspot.com - she also takes a lot of pictures. i'm trying to think of a care package of some kind to send to her. any thoughts?
For Christmas, Marc gave me this awesome coffee siphon. Coffee Siphon! It is this two-part glass dealie that looks like it might come out of a meth lab. Ah! It's a bit of a process to use, and the whole glass thing scares me a bit, but it makes some nice coffee! I'm sitting right now with the remnants of this morning's brew that I let sit out...with ice and sweetened condensed milk. nom nom nom. believe it or not, it actually tastes better than this morning's hot coffee! We are also going to go see Lykke Li on February 2nd at webster hall, which is very exciting as I love her music a lot. That will be right after my birthday! It falls on a saturday this year. Party time!!
I'm going to continue working on my exercise and eating habits. Tonight i went to yoga. It was awesome. I feel so good. The instruction was very nicely paced. My left shoulder has been bothering me because I have been crocheting a lot! It's still a little tight but not too bad. I got groceries after yoga. I buy more greens than I have ever had. And I won't let them rot! I think tonight I will make some lemon pepper tilapia, brown rice, and a salad. I need to go defrost that.
I have been super busy since around August, so I thought I'd do one big picture post update bout the second half of my year! My 'A' key on my computer is stuck so if my post seems to be missing them, i am very sorry! Most of these pictures are from Marc's iphone and other various sources that I hope to remember to credit. I got sort of disillusioned after my XA got lost/stolen when I was in Portland this summer :( boo! I haven't done too much photography since then. Anyway, this may or may not be in chronological order, starting from sometime in August! Actually, that's a lie, as the first 3 photos or so are from February and April. Ha. The first half of the year was sort of rough for me, and I hope this reflects some of the happiness and joy I had in the second half :)
For Jen's birthday, we rented a gorgeous cabin upstate for a few days...they had lots of fun equipment in the basement so we took this amazing retro styled photo in a canoe. From left to right, Paul, Marc, Michelle, Jacqui, Lauren, Me, Nancy, Sarah, Jen, and Jan. I took this picture with Michelle's camera and the timer.
This is me and Daan at a fabulous party Julian C. threw at the house he was sitting. Daan is one of the most important people in my life. He is currently working on getting into law school. I hope he gets into NYU Law so he can stay close by. I don't know who took this! Sry!
Me, Julian, and Isabella in Union Square sometime shortly after the party. Bella was visiting from Morocco at the time with her partner, Currun, who I believe took this shot. Bella was in NY to see a doctor because she got kicked in the head by a camel and couldn't see out of one of her eyes very well. She returned to Morocco soon after and then stayed in Gambia for a while...She is now at UChicago getting her PhD in Anthropology. She is one of the loveliest people I know, inside and out. I just got a card from her and her pup Lola. Julian I have known for ages now and has a ridiculous sense of humor.

Under the Brooklyn Bridge, Marc and friends saw The Shining. It was very uncomfortable! Iphone.
Marc and his skills designed this very useful chalkboard in our kitchen. In the Upcoming section, you can see that we were going to see the Dodos and BAM Takeover, both were awesome! Iphone.
For Elizabeth's birthday, we went to Karaoke in Little Koreatown. It was incredible. Crazy fingers! Liz or Anna's shot?
I was not pleased with the wait for the train afterwards, however. Iphone.

Post what you remember doing with me this year!
